I want one code that sends iPhones to Apple and Androids to Google.
A single QR is one fixed string and can't detect the phone by itself. That redirect has to happen on a server. Encode ONE URL you control (a /get-the-app page or a smart-link/deep-link service you run) that does the OS-based redirect, or print two labelled codes, one per store. This tool builds the single-URL code and is honest that the routing lives in your link, not the QR.
The code scans but opens a browser instead of the App Store app.
That's expected for a raw https App Store or Google Play URL: the phone opens the web listing, which offers an 'Open in App Store / Play' button. To jump straight into the store app, use each platform's official app-link format or a smart-link service that emits proper deep links, then encode that URL here.
My app icon makes the code fail to scan.
Shrink the icon so it covers under ~25% of the code, keep its protected quiet zone enabled, and raise error correction to Q or H (the tool auto-suggests this when you add a logo). Watch the live scan badge: if it turns red, reduce the icon or increase contrast.
The exported code looks blurry on a large poster.
