Moving one page, the simple way

The whole task comes down to three small steps:

1. Open the PDF so its pages appear as thumbnails.
2. Grab the page you want to move.
3. Drop it in its new position, the pages around it shift automatically.

Drag, or use the arrows

Dragging is great for big jumps: sending page 20 up to position 3, say. But when a page only needs to shift a slot or two, the keyboard is often faster and more precise:

• Focus the page (click it or tab to it).
• Press Alt + Left to move it one position earlier.
• Press Alt + Right to move it one position later.

Tap the arrow a couple of times and the page walks to its spot. No aiming for a drop target, no overshooting. It's also the accessible route, so the tool works fully without a mouse.

Common single-page moves

A handful of tweaks come up again and again:

• Bring the cover to the front. After a merge, the title page sometimes ends up buried, one drag fixes it.

• Fix a swapped pair. Two pages in the wrong order? Move one past the other and you're done.

Moving several pages at once

Need to relocate a small run of pages, say, three that belong together? Move them one at a time, in order, to the same destination. For larger reshuffles across a whole document, it's worth stepping back and planning the full sequence rather than moving pages piecemeal, but for a handful of pages, one-by-one is the quickest path.

Save the move properly

One thing to watch: moving a page on screen and saving that move aren't the same. Some viewers only rearrange the display and leave the file untouched, so reopening it brings the old order back.

To make the change permanent, export a rebuilt PDF and keep that downloaded copy. Open it to confirm the page is where you left it before you send the file on. A quick check now saves an awkward "wrong version" email later.
